Dancing or Adumu
The Maasai are famous for their jumping dance (adumu), performed by the men of the village, who leap into the air to show their strength and stamina as warriors. The Eunoto ceremony, where junior warriors become senior warriors, can involve ten or more days of singing and dancing. The young men form a circle and begin jumping as high as possible, without letting their heels touch the ground. The others raise the pitch of their voices, based on the height of the jump. During the celebrations, the girlfriends of these Moran warriors parade in their most spectacular costumes and their mothers sing and dance in tribute to the courage and daring of their sons.
