Together with the launch of his first book Jimmy Nelson set up the Jimmy Nelson Studio
This artistic enterprise is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and is a creative studio that celebrates cultural diversity through a multitude of media. With Jimmy Nelson’s art as the building block, books, artworks, exhibitions, films and experiences are created to reignite the love for humanity.
Our purpose is that all of humanity connects with the feeling of love for oneself, each other and the Earth and that with this unified way of being, we can thrive and sustain this precious planet.
Creativity is what sets us apart
Most people in the dominant culture feel disconnected from themselves, others, and Mother Earth.
The few on this planet that are still in touch with the source of what it means to be human are Indigenous peoples. We from the Jimmy Nelson Studio push ourselves to create art on the highest level possible in order to share their power, wisdom, and beauty with the world. We hope that with this work, people get a better sense of the Indigenous people’s uniqueness and importance in the world we live in.
A room full of treasures
The Jimmy Nelson Studio is known by many now as an experience in itself. He brings artefacts from wherever he is in the world, leaving no trip unwasted to bring something beautiful for the office. From masks and necklaces from Papua New Guinea and Kenya to beautiful woven tapestries from Mongolia or Peru. You can hang out in his library full of photography books accumulated over his lifetime or dance around the table whenever it is somebody’s birthday.
